Zero Waste Parc

The provision of the waste treatment facilities could be the first phase of a wider Zero Waste Parc (Prevention and Recycling Centre) which could be built at this location.

This element of the development will be treated as a separate entity, and if it is to go ahead community consultation will take place in advance.

The site of the proposed development is adjacent to industrial, brownfield and agricultural land.  It is therefore an ideal location for the development of an environment focused business park.

The idea behind this vision is that businesses, be they Council-run, charities or privately-owned, would be working towards a more sustainable future.

If recyclable materials are picked from the residual waste as part of the treatment process, a company which reprocesses these materials could, in theory, set up a business beside the facility in order to be as close to its source as possible.

Likewise, recycling facilities for the public could be situated on site and could potentially expand on services that are currently offered in existing recycling centres.

Creating a Zero Waste Parc could create more jobs and provide local residents and businesses with facilities to help them play a part in protecting our future.
